Avoid Purchasing These Harmful Oral Hygiene and Smile Products

Little did you know, there are many oral hygiene tools and products that can harm your smile and alter your oral health. This is why it’s important to keep your teeth and gums in mind while you purchase smile-cleaning products at the store.

For the best health possible, our Sandor Family Dentistry dental team encourages you to stay away from the harmful and damaging products available.

Dental scalers that you can purchase at the store are not safe for your smile, which is why it’s best to avoid using them. Many people are misled and they use this instrument to remove the plaque and tartar from their teeth, but oftentimes they harm and damage their gums and teeth, leading to tooth chips, tooth sensitivity, and receded and infected gums. It can also lead to gum disease because the tartar is frequently pushed below the gumline when using this product. The only people who should use a scaler to clean your teeth are Dr. Sandor and his dental team.

Toothbrushes with hard bristles are also tools that can be dangerous for your smile. They do not safely and effectively clean your teeth and gums like you think they do. In fact, they harm your smile by wearing down the tooth enamel and irritating the gums, causing major dental issues like tooth decay and sensitivity. The best tool to use to clean your chompers is a soft-bristled toothbrush.

Lastly, you should avoid using products that don’t have the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. The ADA tests oral hygiene products for their safety and effectiveness in an oral hygiene routine. If the product passed the test, it receives the right to print the ADA seal of approval on the label. If you use smile-cleaning tools that do not have this stamp of approval, you could be putting your teeth and gums in danger.
