If you have tooth decay, our dentists may place a dental filling to restore the tooth. Drs. Sandor and Sandor will remove the decay and then fill the area with the filling material. At our dental office, we offer composite dental fillings, which are tooth colored.
What are the Benefits of Composite Dental Fillings?
- The dental filling can be matched to the shade of your smile
- They are durable because they bond to your tooth structure
- In addition to being used to treat tooth decay, composite fillings can be used to repair broken, chipped, or worn down teeth.
How is a Composite Filling Placed?
First, our dentists will remove the decayed part of the tooth. The area is probed and tested to make sure that all of the decay has been removed. Drs. Sandor and Sandor will then clean the area of all bacteria and debris. The composite filling is then placed in layers. A special light is used to cure, or harden, each layer as it is placed. After the filling is in place, our dentists will shape the filling, trim off any excess material, and polish it.
